Shantanu Kundu

Shantanu Kundu is a leading mental-health activist, chief executive of the Be Free Campaign and an NHS clinical entrepreneur and innovation consultant. Holding an MSc in Acute, Critical and Emergency Medicine, he has worked with government and health bodies to enhance mental-health initiatives and is an honorary lecturer in psychology at the University of Liverpool. Shantanu has been recognised with the Diana Award and the Prime Minister’s Point of Light Award, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health. He was highlighted by Dr Alex George as a leading activist during Mental Health Awareness Week. As founder of the Be Free Campaign, he leads programmes delivering mental-health education, counselling and wellbeing support across the UK, combining advocacy, innovation and community engagement to reduce stigma and improve access. Shantanu’s blend of clinical knowledge, activism and public engagement has made him a respected voice in UK mental-health policy and practice.
