Rose Ayling-Ellis has been deaf since birth and is a British Sign Language user, and has overcome this adversity, establishing a successful career in the performing arts. Rose made history as the first ever deaf contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and her dancing campaign led her to winning the 2021 series which was a landmark moment for the deaf community. Her passion and talent in acting has earned her a host of on-stage and on-screen roles, perhaps most notably her role as Frankie Lewis in Eastenders. Rose raises awareness and breaks down misconceptions, reaching a large audience through social media and the BBC documentary Signs For Change which shines a light on deaf experiences and presents the beauty of sign language. She also campaigns for on-stage productions to be made more accessible for members of the deaf community.
