Professor Jason Arday

Professor Jason Arday is a leading academic whose research has shaped national debates on race, education and social justice. Noted for his role in the Black Curriculum discussion, he advocates for teaching that reflects the histories and experiences of Black communities in the UK and addresses racial inequalities in higher education. Open about being autistic, Professor Arday examines how neurodiversity intersects with academic pathways and uses his lived experience to inform calls for more accessible and equitable policies in education. Recognised as one of the UK’s youngest Black professors, he combines scholarly rigour with public engagement and mentorship to amplify underrepresented voices and challenge institutional practices that perpetuate inequality. His work continues to influence policy, elevate marginalised perspectives and inspire future generations to pursue inclusive change in education.
