Debbie Hewitt was appointed as the first female chair of the English Football Association (FA) in June 2021, formally taking up the role in January 2022. Debbie’s passion for football developed while following her amateur referee father to matches. Debbie is an experienced and successful businesswoman, first in retail management, then as a group managing director in the automobile industry. She is currently the non-executive chair of Visa Europe, price comparison website comparethemarket.com and lifestyle clothing company White Stuff. She holds an honorary doctorate in business administration and was awarded an MBE in 2011 for services to business and the public sector. In 2021, she was included in the Vogue 25 – British Vogue’s annual list of the UK’s most influential women. Debbie was recently elected as a FIFA vice-president.
