Nimco Ali OBE is the co-founder and chief executive of The Five Foundation, a global partnership dedicated to ending female genital mutilation (FGM). A survivor herself, Nimco has become a leading campaigner on gender equality, using lived experience to drive legal, policy and cultural change in the UK and internationally. Her advocacy ensures survivors’ voices are central to reform and has informed government and institutional approaches to women’s health and rights. Nimco has advised governments and organisations on embedding survivor-centred strategies into policy and practice and was awarded an OBE in recognition of her extraordinary impact. Through public engagement, research and strategic leadership, she continues to challenge harmful practices and advance protections that enable women and girls to live free from violence and discrimination.
